About Us
Who we are and the Plant Native Mission.
We are a young badass couple (ok we are in our 30's, chill bro) that calls Ohio home. We are local to Columbus, and we adore our state and all of its natural beauty. Like many of you, we find a deep sense of calmness in the outdoors. We consider ourselves adventurers, explorers, and nature enthusiasts.
During our time enjoying the great outdoors many issues become unavoidably evident. Issues like invasive plant species, animal and insect endangerment, litter, pollution, tainted water systems, yards that don't contribute to our eco-system, and the environment being an afterthought. It's all overwhelming AF.
We were doing our part, taking baby steps. We put in a rainwater collection system, recycled, started to compost food scraps, planted vegetable gardens, cut back on the mowing, and all that jazz. All very important things but we wanted to have a larger impact, start a movement even. We thought if it was fun, digestible, and easy that more people would get involved. So, the idea was born!
We embarked on a mission to re-populate Ohio's native wildflowers. We began the journey in late 2021 with research, then sourcing, then packaging, and after many months it all came together. We launched our packages and started sales in Spring 2022. So here we are distributing packaged medleys of native Ohio Wildflower seeds across the state. Our seeds are 100% natural and responsibly sourced. Our packages are 100% compostable, environmentally friendly, and contribute to no unnecessary waste.
The hope is that people will have some FUN while helping our environment. We want to raise awareness and education about our native plant species and the importance of them. We hope to get more people involved in gardening. We dream of seeing natural lawns and wildflower fields, that are pollinator havens, instead of mowed lawns.
We want you to spread these packages all over the city! Plant these seeds all over your farm. Put a natural wildflower field in your yard to help our homies the bees! You see an ugly derelict urban dirt patch on your street... plant some of these bad boys. Let’s make our spaces beautiful and save our environment!
The passion gave way to the idea. The idea evolved into Plant Native Ohio. We love our state. We love our nature. So, let’s show them some love. LFG!
